HYROX is adong a new ownership structure as consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton leads a consortium to acquire a majority stake in the global fitness-racing property from sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media. The financial terms have not been disclosed, but media reports put HYROX’s valuation at around €600 million, or approximately $700 million. The consortium also includes HYROX co-founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste, who are returning to the ownership group, alongside technology investment firm WndrCo.The transaction comes four years after Infront became HYROX’s majority owner in 2022. Under Infront, the company expanded its event footprint substantially, turning its standardised combination of running and functional fitness into a global mass-participation sports property.HYROX held more than 100 events during the 2025–26 season, attracting more than 1.4 million participants and 1.5 million spectators. The events are now held across more than 30 countries, giving the property a scale that extends well beyond the traditional fitness-event category. From fitness event to consumer sports propertyThe new ownership is significant because L Catterton’s investment thesis extends beyond the event itself. The firm is backed in part , bringing a consumer-brand investment lens to a sports property built around participation rather than spectatorship alone. For HYROX, that creates scope to develop the business across events, training, affiliated gyms and consumer products while continuing its international expansion. The standardised format is particularly valuable commercially because athletes can compare performances across locations, giving the company a consistent global product rather than a collection of locally adapted races. The founders’ return also keeps the people who created the format directly involved as the company enters its next phase.HYROX is simultaneously positioning itself for a larger role in orgsed sport. The company has identified potential Olympic inclusion as a long-term ambition, with the 2032 and 2036 Games among the targets being discussed. The ownership change therefore marks more than a private-equity transaction. It reflects how a mass-participation fitness format has become a global sports and consumer asset, now attracting capital from investors accustomed to building brands far beyond the traditional sports market.
